Ordinary chain hotel, but helpful staff, clean rooms and v. nice swimming pool/spa etc. Not for anyone looking for a boutiqy=ue hotel, but more than adequate for a city break reasonably close to the centre of activities.

'Larder', foodie restauarant in Blackfriar's St. very nice indeed.

We liked this hotel because it offered a very high level of service especially in the dining room and was genuinely relaxed. No hushed whispering in this hotel,- there was an efficient hub-bub at breakfast, and the hot food, cooked to order was excellent. Decent heavy teapots, extra water, fresh tea all offered. Staff were being actively managed by superviser and it was very well run. Staff at pool area were friendly and helpful. Bar staff also on the money, friendly and organised. Only one criticsism with the staff -the receptionist on arrival gabbled so much information in a bored off-pat way it was difficult to follow (and wasn't very welcoming).Later, on hearing other check-in guests receiving their information I realised just how much important stuff we had missed. Room clean,comfortable and Quiet! Appreciated being able to open the windows for fresh air. The housekeeping staff respected our privacy and didn.t once knock on the door to do housekeeping jobs (RARE!)They enquired once if everything was fine and left us alone -very peaceful. Tiny cricitism -after a few days the four-track taped music was beginning to get on our nerves. Great location -close to the Queen's Gallery and park, Arthers Seat (hill from which to view the city), Dynamic Earth project,'Mac' open-top bus tours with live guides, Royal mile;-all recommended. Gallery of Modern Art, National Gallery, Festival Fringe events, Tattoo; all brilliant.

would stay again the only downside was the lack of sockets in bedroom, (2) my granddaughter had to sit at the desk to use laptop and watch a film when it would have been better to lie in bed and relax

most things were close to hotel etc city centre, the palace the hard rock cafe was a good experience

the hotel was so nice and the staff made you feel so welcome they were very helpfull. Food was cooked to order and there was a nice variety.

first class service from arrival till departure,bit pricey but expected in a four star establishment,staff were splendid and always smiling.

Top Tip
carry an umberella sunburn in afternoon soaked at night.
